RADIO CODE CLUB The Radro Code Club IS a new club m our school It was started thls year by Mr Rude to teach the boys th Internatlonal Morse Code whlch wrll prepare them for the emergencies that may arrse m the servxce of the Armed forces Thls code enables the boys to commumcate betwe n natrons whose language they have no understandlng of by phonograph records played over the pubhc address system It develops the boys senses and ab1l1ty to concentrate Many of the boys who are gomg 1nto the servrce soon wlll be able to use thls trammg ln thexr lrf rn the Armed SCFVICCS The knowledge of the code not only serves m s1tuat1ons of dlre need but also proves valuable 1n both land and sea as a means of commumcatlon necessary wxth short preparatmon 'w STAMP AND BOND CLUB Our Bond and Stamp Club was orgamzed for the purpose of furtherrng the sale of stamps and bonds through the school Among the thmgs we have purchased th1s year are parachutes and a jeep Our club has also made a consrderable sum of money by havrng a slogan contest and a bond raffle Our goal for thrs year IS S5 000 The members of the club wxsh to thank the school for thelr co operatxon 1n helpmg to make our club a success PROGRAM CLUB The Program Club was orgamzed thxs year mamly to arrange assembly programs that would be of lnterest to the Student Body The most successful of these assemblxes was the Quz Program Durmg the club perrod each member rs glven a chance to partrclpate by workmg out an rndxvrdual presentatlon or to work ln small groups and present a sklt The purpose of thxs 15 to develop polse and mfluence of thought and work The club IS under the supervlslon of Miss Sulllvan 6 -'--'ma.M..c The present war emergency has b en the orngmatron of the Scrvrce Men s paper The purpose of the paper rs to mform the men nn the servrce of events happenmg back home also to help them keep m contact wrth one anoth r Features of the paper are addresses of the men news of the school happenmgs news of old classmates and letters that the boys send One lssue has already been prmted Every Thursday meetmgs are held nh fourth perlod durmg thxs tlme news 15 gathered typed arranged for prmtmg The club IS under the supervlslon of Mrs Engelmann 'Q 2 A .C ' if . MOVIE CLUB The purpose of the Movie Club is two fold to review motion pictures and to learn how to operate and repair the proiector All twenty four members of the club get practical experience operating th projector for assemblies and certain classes in school Wfe alsu reyieu pictures that deal with wartime activities and the war effort which we hope will beneht us to some extent in choos ing our wartun seryice The Nloxie Club has become 1 relia le asset to our sehool and has increased the amount of xi ual edu cation in the school MATHEMATICS CLUB The Emergency Mathematics Club has been spending its time with fractions, decimals, square roots, Compasses, and Hrf, and it's not sure who its next companions will be. The club mem- bers are doing their share to prepare themselves along the lines the War Department has been stressing mathematically. The purpose of the club is just that-to refresh, relearn and learn all the mathematics possible in a few weeks that will help the war effort. MODEL AIRPLANE CLUB The Nlodel Airplane Club is made up of boys who make carefully detailed accurately scaled model airplanes of all bomb ers fighters observation and trainers planes in the world These planes are sent to the Navy Department and used for aerial gunnery practice and plane spotting by men in the service This work is done in the shop under the dir ction of Mr Nlorris ' , ' .
