Central Islip High School March so, 1942 Dear 42's, Few people in this life have the privilege of watching young America develop through four years of High School Those of us who are in these positions where we can witness the progress you have made and the advancement of other clas es before you, feel that we are indeed fortunate and we experience no less a thrill at the vision of our expectations for you than you enjoy in the realities you plan to relive in this 'View of 42 cause I feel that I must express to you individually, and as group, something which will make a lasting impression on you and which will serve to preserve for you the happiness of youth I have walked along with you through your high school days one should retain and treasure for l1fe's fullest realization This thought is that you should keep your own individuality or, in other words, 'Be Yourself' It would seem, perhaps, that youth is the most versatile actor in life, but this is not so because in youth we find true originality, and deep sincerity of purpose which is so lacking in later life ln what we term 'our responsibilities' The character which God gave you can be molded somewhat, and your personality will be changed in many ways by your experiences, but you must, in going through these valleys, and over the hills, strive to hold fast to and use those talents with which He created you No one has ever expressed the thought better, and I hope, or wish for nothing better than that, 'If to your own self you will be true you cannot then be false to any man' Yours most s cer X I I. It is not4too easy to write a final message to you be- a . As
