The Officers Libr ry Club started with a meeting in the e rly part of September were elected as follows President Elinore Bauer Vice President Mary Clarne Secret ry Frances Devine Treasurer Anna Burke big feature of the year was the 'Heading Contest' sponsored by the the Grade School The Sixth Grade won the contest and was given a The club for were shown The club is under the supervision of Miss Patricia A Golden lliiiiifiiiiiilliili The Home Economics Club began in the early part of September Its ad visor is Mrs Balding, Home Economics teacher The first meeting was devoted to the election of officers They are as follows President Theresa Thorogood Vice Pre ldent Juanita Perez Secretary Isabella Henry Treasurer Dorothy Bauer At the second meeting the girls decided to bring to the club meeting something on which to sew They also planned a Christmas party During the second semester the girls made layettes for the Junior Red Cross As the highlight of the year the girls had a great social event, a St Patr1ck's Day party to which each girl brought an escort The girls feel that this year their Home Economics Club has been a very successful venture L1BRARY CLUB HOME ECONOMICS CLUB party as a prize. Another big feature was WBook Week' in which many new books

DHAMATICS CLUB At the organization meeting of the French Club the following officers were elected for the year President, Mary Clarke, Vice President, Virginia Reilly, Secretary, Dorothy Kadlec, Advisor, Miss Hammill Because of the irregularity of mail from Europe this year the members wrote to French students in Canada instead of in France The Club appeared in two programs during the year, the Christ mass Assembly and the Clubs Assembly The members are looking forward to the annual excursion to a French movie or to a French restaurant ooaoeoooooooooooouoo In December, the Dramatics Club started its fifth electing Dorothy Kadlec as President, Elinore Bauer as William Humphrey as Secretary Treasurer We sponsored a Chicken raffle in January to raise our trip to New York City after Easter vacation to see production The raffle proved to be very successful also sponsored a moving picture in April All 50 members are looking forward to our trip to year by Vice President, funds for a Broadway The Club New York LE CERCLE FRANCAIS

BAND President Barbara Spence Vice President Martin McDonough Secretary Treasurer Eninore Bauer On May 14 the Central Islip Band played at the Iusic Festival at Central Islip On May 17 the Band acted as host to the Central Long Island Music Educators Association Band Festival This program was run on a competition basis From the best players two bands were chosen of about l2o pieces This consisted of a Junior Band and a Senior Band The Junior Band consisted of the best experienced players They played five selections under the direction of different music teachers The Senior Band consisted of the most talented students This band is probably the best band to be heard anywhere in this sec tion of the country, consisting of the best players from schools all over this section of Long Island The Band played in the Memorial Day Parade and also for Class Night, June 22nd This year's band is better balanced than any of the preceding bands have been Everybody has worked hard and they deserve credit.
