WASHINGTON TRIP On Tuesday Aprll I5 the members of the Washmgton Trtp Club all met at the Central Islip Rallroad Sta txon There were relatives and frlends everywhere to wxsh everyone a good time When our tra1n fmally arrived we clambered aboard eager to begm our trip The tram started and at last we were on our way to Washmgton At I2 00 noon we stopped at Phrladelphna We had lunch and then made a bus tour of the clty We saw In dependence Hall where we stopped and saw the old Lrberty Bell passed Benjamin Prankhn s grave Betsy Ross house and then ment to the Unxted States Mmt where we agam stopped After the Mmt was toured we left Phrla delphxa and boarded the tram for Washmgton About 5 30 we reached Washmgton There was a bus wartmg for us that took us to the Hotel Ebrtt where we stayed whxle ln Washmgton Wednesday mormng we toured Washmgton We went to the Capltol the House of Representatnves the Senate the L1brary of Congress where we saw the orlgmal Declarauon of Independence and to the Supreme Court Blllldllig Wednesday afternoon me left the hotel for an enghty mlle drlve through beautlful Maryland to the Unlted States Naval Academy at Annapolxs We saw the mldshxpmen on dress parade and made a complete xnspectnon of the grounds and burldxngs of the Academy accompanxed by an interesting guide Thursday mornlng our slght seeing bus took us to the Arlmgton Natlonal Cemetery ln Vlrglnxa Stops were made and we saw the Custls Lee Manslon the Memorial Amphrtheatre and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Next we toured through quaint Alexandria along the Potomac River to Mount Vernon where we spent some tlme nn exammmg the estate On the return trrp to Washmgton a stop was made at the beautlful Llncoln Memor 1al whlch was said to be by some of the club the most lmpresslve slght they had ever seen Thursday afternoon we went to the Washlngton Cathedral and the Franciscan Nlonastery which contains ex act replicas of rellcs found in the Holy Land Thursday nrght we went to the Lotus a nxghtclub where we met Mr Hynes and where everyone had a won derful txme Frnday morn ng we went to the Washnngton Monument Most of us preferred to take the elevator to the top of the monument but some walked the 508 steps A beautxful vlew of Washmgton was seen from the top of thls monum nt From the Monument we took a tax1 to the Bureau of Engravmg where me saw mrllnons of dollar brlls and hOW they WCFC made Frlday afternoon we went to the Smtthsonlan Instttute where we saw Lindbergh s plane The Splrlt of St Louls We went to the Mellon Art Institute where many beautlful pamtmgs were seen Then we ment to the Fed eral Bureau of Ins estxgatlon We had a very mterestlng guxde who showed use the varnous hxstorles and aliases of many crlmlnals and the clothes and weapons of John D llmger The tour was very mterestlng Saturday mornmg we left Washmgton for home at ll 00 A lunch was served In the dmlng car on the tram At 5 00 we reached Central Isllp realxztng that our wonderful trip to Washington was over 7 7 - 7 ' 7 3 ' . . . . ., , Y 7 . , . . . - , - , . STUNT NIGHT This year the Sen or Class sponsored a new program whxch we hope w1ll become an annual event for many years to come lqhls program was stunt mght Each class 1nc ud ng the seventh and elghth grades was to put on a stunt and each class was to keep 1fS stunt a secret from the o her cla ses The class chosen by the Judges for th b st s unt s to be awarded a prxze 'S n t 1 -1 lVlay 9 the program began The seventh grade under the dxrectxon of Mrs Mulllgan put on a schoolhouse slcxt Much mustcal and comlc talent was dxsplayed by these puplls The enghth grade under Mxss Golden s direction put on a slut entitled Th Knave of Hearts wh ch told a true s ory of the knave of hearts who was not a thnef at all but a hero The Freshman Class with Mr Block as th mam promoter gave us a boxmg bout between two famous End Kids The Sophomore with Miss Hammlll s guidance gave us a r vlew of the events of th school year Such events as the crownmg of the Prom ueen school exhxbztxon n ght and graduatlon were demonstrated The htgh lxght of this revlew was an exact dupllcatlon of th farewell gxven when Mr Hynes and Mr Rogers left us The Jumors presented wxth Mxss Thomas and Mr Haynes h lp a slut entltled Home Sweet Hom Th s lxttle orngtnal play showed a man s efforts to get some rest In a famlly of gxrls who are always blckermg and malt mg nonse The Semors under the guxdanc of MISS Sullxvan gave th floor show of the flCtltlOllS Club 41 a mght c ub It featured the Girls Sexte a demonstratton of the La Conga solo numbers the Barbershop Quartet and the Flora Dora Glrls Although the judges had much difficulty ln decndmg whxch class had gxven the best presen ation they Hnally declded on the Semors We belleve that Stunt Nnght wlll be an event look d forward to every year by th students and local towns people Q ' , ' . . .
