BAND The Central Isllp High School Band totalling thxrty four members dressed ln the school olors purp e and gold partxcxpated m many actnvxtxes durmg the school year 40 41 Among these actxvmes were playing for various assemblles and between halves of the home basketball games durmg the season On Aprxl thxrd tryouts were held for those wlshxng to partxcxpate ln the Band Festlval wh1ch was held on May ll at Huntington Long Island Present at thxs festxval were members of school bands from central Long Island The sixth annual Musxc Concert whlch was held ln our hlgh school aud1tor1um on May 14 was high llghted by the Band musxc On Sunday of the same week on May 18 the Band played for the Holy Name Rally at Huntmgton Station Memorlal Day wouldn t be the same lf the Band dldn t parade lh both Central Isllp and Brentwood as they have done for the past few years The Band also played for the Field Day une 21 of St Annes School 1n Brentwood The crowmng event of the Band s school year was PI'OV1dlI1g the muslc for Class Nlght exercises held on une 23 1941 A word of thanks IS due Mr Charles VanScha1clc dlrector of Music for his excellent leadership and also or his cooperatlon durmg he past year ORCHESTRA No school WOLllCl be COIT'lpl6fC WlIl1OLllC 3.
