GIRLS ATHLETICS The athletic season opened very favorably for the C I grrls thls year The fall season started wlth a 3 1 v1c tory rn hockey agalnst South Huntmgton The next game was w1th Smrthtown The game was tled untll the last mlnute of play then Smlthtown made a goal makmg the score 4 3 1n thelr favor The next sport for the fall sea son was soccer The glrls played Port efferson s girls and came out wlth a 4 2 vrctory Durrng the winter season there were three outslde basketball games played wxth both flrst and second teams These games were played agamst Port efferson lst team 17 16 lost Znd team 10 9 won South Huntington lst team 23 23 t1e 2nd team 13 11 lost Smrthtown lst team 2721 won Znd team Z0 16 lost The basketball playday was at Riverhead Hugh Scho al The girls were put cn the black color team They played four schools and lost only one game In the sprmg the guls soft ball team had a victory of 12 2 agalnst Kmgs Park The playday was held at East Isllp School Exght schools were present Central Islip was placed first by scormg the most number of pomts In their sectlon they won all of their games namely Kmgs Park 5 1 East Ishp 11 4 South Huntmgton 6 3 Islxp 8 5 In the afternoon a flrst and second Honor Team was chosen to play Three gxrls from C I were chosen to play on the Flrst Honor Team namely A Lmdqulst I Swaxne and E Jacobsen The glrls attended a volley ball playday at Bay Shore High School Twenty chools were present and the only game C I lost was with Bay Shore Losmg that game kept the gxrls out of the hnals The Physlcal Educatxon Department of boys and gurls put on its annual Physxcal Education demonstration on Wednesday Aprxl 2 A large crowd attended and seemed to enjoy the entnre program The grrls had a very mtenslve xntra mural program throughout the entlre year covering such sports as hockey soccer volley ball basketball badmmton plng pong soft ball archery and horse back rldmg 9 ' ' ' ' 1 1 s ' 1 ' ' 5 ' 9 , . , . . . .
