Bowlers Strike Up Spirit The Central-Hower Co-ed Bowling League met every Tuesday after school at Garden Lanes. There were 3 on a team, and they competed with their peers for trophies. The officers were: Dwight St. Clair- Presidentg Cathy Cihaj-Vice-Presidentg Joyce Towsley-Secretary-Treasurerg and Sher Verheyen- Sergeant At Arms. The interscholastic League met every Thursday at Garden Lanes, There were four on a team, and they competed with other high school students for their trophies. The girls bowled against other girl teams and guys bowled against other guy teams. No more than 2 teams of each group from each school were allowed to join. Melody Elliott was the Secretary- Treasurer of the Girls' League. The competitors were coached this year by Nlr. Brinson Named Outstanding Trackster Of City Meet Although the track team was young, they put desire and spirit in their effort. Sophomore Tony Brinson was named Outstanding Trackman of the city track meet. He scored 28 of C-H's 36 points. He placed first in the long jump, in the 180-yard low hurdle, and fourth in the high jump. Brinson also competed in the state meet. Other top performers for the Eagles were sprinters Ivory Thomas, Tim Wilkes, Roger Turner, and Henry Browng high jumper Larry Rumph, who placed second in the city meet, dis- tancemen included Mike Nelson, Charles Roberts, John Heeling and Lloyd Elefritz, weightmen were Don Hood, Rick Westfall, Ken Turner, and James Burgoon. The mile relay consisted of Wayne Dibble, Frank Bradley, Howard Harris, and Mike Nelson. ,, sPoRTs 61 4.
