Girls' Sports The Central-Hower girls' basketball team put forth a good effort this year. The team was young and inexperienced since there was no team last year. The city league was tough and the girls were up against teams with much experience. The games were played at different area high schools. Not only did the girls learn a lot this year, but they also had fun and met many new friends! The girls' varsity volleyball team ended its season with one win and seven losses. Their skill level was quite high but they just couldn't get it together. There were 12 girls on the team, including, five seniors, five juniors, and two sophomores. Practice was held every morning at 7:30 and after school at 3:30. Although they only won one game, the girls showed great Eagle pride and Central-Hower can certainly be proud of their efforts. The gymnastic team competed in seven city meets, a city championship meet, and a sectional meet this year. The girls com- peted on the balance beam, uneven bars, vaulting, and floor exercises, scoring points out of a possible ten points. The team gained much experience in com- pulsory and optional routines. They ended the season with two wins and five losses. E E i GYMNASTICS TEAM-Front: S. Cook, M. Doolin, D.
