New Director Leads C-H Choirs Students interested in music and voice make up the choral department at C-H. The choir presented three school concerts: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a spring concert. They participated in the choirs- in-the-round, an all city competition, as well as the solo and ensemble contest in February. For the festival in May, 20 choir members from each high school in Akron were chosen to sing. The choir also sang during commencement and for clubs and organizations in the area. They sponsored a Broadway musical for the entertainment of the student body and sang for the community Christmas tree lighting ceremony in December. Outstanding performances were presented not ,only by the Girls Ensemble but also by the Madrigal Singers under the direction of Mrs. Carol Hayward who also organizes and directs the main body of the choir. - 273, ,. 1 wig-i'4.,,4 ACAPPELLA CHOIR Row 1: S. King E Dance Sponsored by VICA, the King 'E' dance was for singles and couples. Starting at 8 p.m. on January 11, Alias Funk 8t Soul provided both slow and soul music. The band made way for the introduction of the court at 9:30. Rhonda Menefee was crowned Queen, and Jerome Crosby, King. Vicki Poe and Tony Anderson were crowners, Attendants were Theresa Pitts, Theresa Shelly, Sherry Shlpplet, Jackie Petryshack, Ethel Fain, Cindy Shelly, Brenda Hammet, Pete Mijalkovic, Andy Heape, Mike Carter, Randy Weitzel, Bob Sloan, Bill Shultz and Tony Long.
