The Press Club intro- duces its members to the principles of journalism by discussing the types of newspaper writing and the departments of a newspaper, by giving some actual practice in writing. This year the club showed Christmas spirit by giving a Christ- mas breakfast at which Mr. Vanlileek was the guest of honor. of Losing the Blue The activities of the Slide Rule Club consist of learning the funda- mental operations of the slide rule. Some mem- bers make up problems for others to work out. Any kind of mathema- tical p r o b l e m can be worked out on the slide rule. There is also a big slide rule in the front of the room for demonstra- tion. Other activities of the Slide Rule Club include seeing movies and other different programs on the slide rule. By watch- ing others work the slide rule. young mathemati- cians learn to figure out their own problems. The more practice one has the better he will be able to use the slide rule.
