MR. JEROME BEN- At least one science course was taken by each member of the student body. Biology taught us to understand the functions of living organisms. ln physics we learned how to apply accepted facts and we explored the chemical world in the laboratory. The mysteries of x's, '!.'s, lines AB, and the functions of an angle were unfolded in the classes of algebra, business arithmetic, geometry, and trigonometry. Our A Cappella choir, orchestra, and band enchanted us with their outstanding performances. To offer more help to those planning to enter music as their vocation, special lessons and a course in music fundamentals were offered. A new ultra-modern art room helped us to express our- selves through painting, sculpture, and many other media. The artists helped many organizations by handling much of their publicity through designing posters and making decorations. Mr. George A. Beck, Central's prin- cipal, has been the guiding hand in the affairs of this school for the past seven- teen years. This fall we were minus our principal for two months. Mr. Beck, because of his outstanding work in education, was chosen to tour Europe in the employ of the Armed Forces. He returned home iust in time to celebrate Christmas withlhis family and friends. The purpose of this tour was to see that the American high schools in Europe measure up to the quality of those here in the States, and to make suggestions for their improvement.
