Wand :lcd fn glial? .fMeel' ln winning the State Cross-Country Championship at the University of Minnesota golf course, the Trojans dethroned a powerful Minneapolis Southwest team which has controlled the cross-country picture for the last three years. By this victory on October 29, the team put the excellent coaching of Mr. Swain to good advantage and came home with the championship trophy. On September 30, Central started the year off a- gainst a strong Southwest team at the linger Park golf course. The Trojans showed up well hut could not place enough men ncar the top. Lloyd l,eBlanr- of Central copped first mer Bill Phillips. of South- west, in a tight race. The next meet was against a rival Hihbing team. also at linger Park course. Central won easily -13- 19 as Lloyd LeBlanc took first again. ln a triangular with Hihhing and Denfeld. Lelilanc of Central beat out Dale Hurd of Hihbing for lst place honors. The Trojans had 2l points: llenfeld. which finished second. had 221 while Hihhing was third with 44. ln this meet, Central placed lst, fird. -lth. 5th. and 3th, in the first ten.
