This year has been a milestone for the Class of '62, It was this year that they began the end of their high school careers. All the excitement of having attained a goal long sought was theirs, for they entered Senior High School and began to enjoy the privileges of that position. Class colors were chosen, jackets were ordered, and the first class dance was given. With these privileges, however, came new responsibilities. YN'ith the help of their sponsors, Mrs. Venables, Mr. Krape, and hirs. Shields, the Sophoinores are learning how to use these privileges with prudence and how to accept the responsibilities with maturity. XVe wish them luck in this and in all that they attempt. I 'I :. Finally the day, Nfay 22, arrived and the steps of the York Country Club were dotted with white jackets and beautiful pastel gowns. The setting was perfect with the crystal chandeliers sending twinkling rays of light over the shiny dance floor to mix with the dreamy music from the band as Couples glided mystieally from one side of the ballroom to the other. The theme of the dance, Misty Memories, certainly described this affair for those who attended. They ex- tended the work they did last year and learned many new and more diflicult pieces. As the Ninth Grade Chorus next year, they should do a niagnihcentjoh. On Tuesdays, the third period found the handroom echoing the well-trained voices of the Freshmen. They learned much ahout singing parts from their capable leader, Mr. Cooley. This line unit is surely ready to enter into the Senior High and the Tenth Gracie Chorus next fall. 81h Grade Chorus 7'rh Grade Chorus ff i - - f Y -f -1 fu.. 5909 The seventh grade students comprised the largest of all our choral groups this year. Their members numbered so many that they were split into two units. Through the fine work of Mr. Cooley, they worked on learning parts, new pieces and singing as a group. NYC wish them the best success in Eighth Grade Chorus next year. f A m A ' -1 f A1,' Senior Band The Senior Band, directed by Mr. McFarland and composed of students from the Junior and Senior High, has done a lot to add spirit to our football games.
