Neverfheless, we sfarfed by building a basic foundafion in Chemisfry. We rejoiced af fhe opporfunify fo purchase lab manuals. We commiffed fo memory 'rhe weighf of one gram of aluminum. We learned abouf fhe elemenfs, and all fhe wonderful fhings fhaf can be made by mixing fhem fogefher-namely, everyfhing. The elemenfs had symbols. The symbols wenf fogefher fo form formulas. The formulas wenf fogefher fo form equafions. And fhe eguafions wenf fogefher fo form fesfs. Depending on fhe degree of one's enfhusiasm and convicfion, a sfrong argumenf can be developed fo show fhaf a knowledge of foreign languages can be a sfrong deferrenf fo hosfilify befween fhe nafions. The more infensely you know your neigh- bors in fhis world and can communicafe wifh fhem in 'rheir own languages, fhe less inclined you would be fo enferfain fhoughfs of hosfilify and animosify 'foward fhem.
