Drivers Education, C.O.E. improve students skills Working at Junior Place in Townsend and Wall as a sales clerk, senior Ruth Ann Fager helps a customer choose a dress. Drivers education and C.O.E. both provide stu- dents with necessary training and experience needed to enter future careers. Driver's education teaches students rules of the road while they experience driving under supervision. C.O.E. has a dual purpose. Students fulfill the duties of the job that they choose. In order to take secretarial training, a student must have made superior grades in shorthand and typ- ing. Junior Mike Rock uses the mortiser machine for drilling square holes to make tenon joints in legs for a game table. , GH! xt? 37 Knock! Knock! Whiz! Whiz! Bang! Bang! Bang! These are a few of the noises one hears when he goes through a section of Central called 'tthe village. The student learns mechanical drawing, metal crafts, wood- working, and machine shop. Woodworking I introduces the student to the inr- niture making industry, while in machine shop the pupil learns to use hand tools and read blueprints. Mechanical drawing emphasizes the basic ideas of en- gineering and drawing, and metal crafts stresses the construction of metal objects. U Junior Bruce Wilkinson works at his desk on a project for Mr. Green during his fourth hour mechanical drawing class. Sophomore Jim Wilson cuts a piece of wood on the electric saw for a wood project during Mr. Evans' Woodworking I class. g
