Freshmen experience team teaching in U.S. histor Junior Davy Meyer adds an item to a bulletin board display he has prepared as an extra credit project for U.S. history. Central's Social Science Department has enlarged its team teaching program. This year Central has three team teaching classes compared to last year's one. Teach- ers are experimenting with a new teaching system called the Packet Concept which enables students to progress at their own rate. Another change in the department is that fresh- men must now take U.S. history instead of the civics courses required in former years. Jeanette Roe points out the site of the Battle of Gettysburg. ath Department obtains new books for Algebra Freshman David Carpenter shows his classmates in second period Algebra I how to work out a problem on the graph board. This year Central acquired new Algebra I and II books. The Algebra I book is a revised edition and is in the Dolciani series as before. The Algebra II book is also in the same series but is much more sophisticated than the revised edition. New innovations have been explored but none are being used because the returning college students seem to be well prepared for more advanced math courses. Freshman Steve Callis asks for Mrs. Beaumont's assistance on a math problem during his second hour Algebra I class. In order to take secretarial training, a student must have made superior grades in shorthand and typ- ing.
