department heads work to raise 'Wakitan' quality . :aa Juniors Cathy Rich, Terri Holm, Sheri Stoneburner and Nancy Rau work to meet Wakitan deadlines on copy and cutlines. Mr. Linus Dowell, Wakitun adviser, discusses a triplicate layout with editor-in-chief RaeAnn Johnson. Eight seniors and eight juniors composed the 1971 Wakitan staff, Working every day to meet deadlines on copy, cutlines, and headlines. With the assistance of Miss Marilyn McCoun and Mr. Linus Dowell, the staff members tried to produce a book that would receive an A+ rating. Two senior staff members, Jana Price and Linda Zoubek, attended a workshop sponsored by Missouri University to obtain new ideas for the Wakitan. Senior Joyce Smith gives a dollar in payment for her Wakitan to business managers Betty Sexton and J o Worthington.

These classes gave stu- dents an opportunity to do advanced study and con- duct more experiments than in Biology I. Central students may choose from six courses: Biology I, Biology II, physical science, Chemistry I, Chemistry II, and physics. Using a chart in Mr. Pulley's sixth hour physical science class, Mickey Wertin gives a report on the planet system. F A-ft to l A-' ai sl During Mr. Sarris' health class, Billie Smiley and Melvin Glenn study the characteristics of the human skeleton. Mike Bone, Peggy Akers, and Linda Griffin, do Biology I les- sons on new lab tables that Mr. Athens received this year. Maureen Nelson, Sharon Cantern and Bill Challener experi- ment with microscopes in their sixth hour Biology I class.
