English students produce films on discrimination Leslie Wilson and Dennis Hogan take major roles in a racial discrimination film that their English class is producing. Junior John Hartigan diagrams a simple sentence on the board during a grammar session of his fifth hour English class. Central,s English department, under the direction of Miss Mary Myers, made several attempts to improve their program this year, ln an effort to introduce more Black Literature, sophomore teachers sponsored a showing of the film, A Raisin in the Sun. English literature students attended the Second Shepherds Play in Maryville. Both English twelve and English literature students saw a set of three films on Macbeth. Mrs. Piercy's sixth hour junior class produced and directed films on racial discrimination. During the Christmas season, Mrs. Chronister's third hour drama class presented 'fCupid is a Bum, is a Bum, is a Bum. Fourth hour performed in the Ran- som of Red Chief' and sixth hour f'Antic Spring. 1 , r- 'l Sherry Michaels, junior, displays poetry on the bulletin board during Mrs. Nancy Piercy's first hour English class. Seniors Dennis Lykins and Jim Trout rehearse with juniors Nancy McClanahan and Sherrie Burnstein for a Christmas Play.

Central High School offered French, Spanish, Ger- man, and Latin to students. This year there was a demand for third year classes in Spanish and German and fourth year classes in Latin and French. During the Christmas season, the French classes caroled at Eat Hills, State Hospital, PEO House, and Noyes Home.
