Boys gain skills for careers in industry Centralis industrial arts program offers freshman and sophomore boys general shop, woodworking, metal working, electronics, and mechanical drawing. Each class involves interest- ing projects starting with simple buzzers and art objects to more complicated projects such as ra- dios. In advanced classes, boys learn new skills and how to use more advanced power tools. Hillyard Technical School provides junior and senior boys with classes preparing them for possible occupations in the future or work in re- lated areas of study. This school offers students drafting, electronics, auto mechanics, machine shop, printing, welding, and carpentry. Boys learn newskills as well as proper procedures. A student hurrying through the second floor annex hallway often finds himself pulled toward a tantalizing aroma escaping from room 135. Once inside the room a person may find himself in the midst of pots and pans filled with good things to eat or tables full of gay material Wait- ing to be turned into Well made dresses by busy hands under the guidance of Mrs. Doris Grunwald, Mrs. Linda Fletcher, and Miss Frances Wright. Books on child care, good grooming, and personality development fill rovv upon row of shelves, along with pamphlets and leaflets on interior decorating and home care help for the girls. Many students Will find these skills helpful as they plan their future homes and careers.
