Scientists discover new facts and develop theories that lead to inven- tion of new and useful tools. Central gives students opportunites to de- velop their ability in the fields of science by offer- ing courses in earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and health. New equipment gained by the department enables students to better under- stand material presented. Chemistry students study more advanced subjects in order to prepare for new university courses. These, along with other improvements, show progress being made in the science department. Craig Hayes listens to Mr. Gary Gibsonis explanation in answer to his question concerning a basic business assignment. ,. Steve Thomas, senior, uses an adding machine to help solve some of the more difficult problems in bookkeeping class. Students attain skill in business subjects The whir of typevvriters, the scratching sound of pencils gliding across a page, and the bark of an attorney slyly questioning the defendant are familiar sounds to students taking business courses. The business courses encompass a Wide variety of subjects. Typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, busi- ness law, and secretarial training offer students the opportunity to gain practical skills that may be helpful in future years. These skills also help the students in their other subjects. Because of a change in teachers, Mrs. Betty Bartles now teaches all the secretarial training classes. Mr. James Perry is an addition to the staff of typing teachers this year, although he has been on the faculty in previous years.
