Practical skills prove Electronically interested Larry Elardo and Mike Scott test the voltage patterns on the gauge of their oscilloscope. Gary Emberry trains in practical education-the use and re- pair of complex machinery at Hillyard's Vocational School. valuable to pupils Buzz! Buzz! Whirr! Whirr! Bang! Bang! Bang! These are a few of many sounds heard as the coffee tables, gun racks, coat racks, book cases, hope chests, and lamp stands are made. These useful articles are produced in woodworking classes as students learn to operate hand and power tools and study blueprinting. Basic ideas of engineering and drawing are taught in mechanical drawing. Students work with projection drawings and work drawings that de- scribe dimensions ofthe entire project. Hillyard Vocational School trains boys in drafting, electronics, machine shop, auto me- chanics, and printing. This training enables boys to develop skills necessary for a profitable future. After completing training school, there are various fields in electronics from which boys may choose. Attendance at St. Joseph Technical School pre- pares students to go to college or earn a living. In wood shop Alfred Klawuhn inspects the various tools dis- played in orderly rows on the carpentry tool board.
