With a knowledge of results of past deci- sions and famous experiences, one learns to make Wise decisions for the future. Importance of social studies is shown in that it is required for students all four years at Central. Freshmen take civics and advanced Freshmen take ancient history. Sophomores take World history, and modern and contemporary history is offered for the honor students. Juniors take United States history or American history. Seniors may choose from a Wide variety of courses: economics, govern- ment, or international relations. The peace and prosperity of our great nation hinges on the determination of its people. Their education is a great factor in determining their decisions. Their decisions contribute to the Wel- fare of mankind all over the World. Mr. Ranner uses a map to illustrate the 'extent of Caesar's Empire to his eager Sophomore ancient history students. General math students Joe Colbert, Dave Easter, and Jeanette Bridgman examine some of Mr. Swope's mathematical sketches. f n Y By means of numbers and symbols, we may study the relationship of two quantities in mathe- matics. The difference between mathematics today and the methods by which the cavemen counted objects and expressed their values is immeasur- able. To most mathematicians, the word immea- surable is a fictitious word. There is always a goal to aim for and an answer to be found. Whether it is numerical or proven untrue, every problem has a determined answer before it is ever Worked. Math is one of the oldest sciences ever used and one of the everlasting sciences to be studied. Central's math courses deal with the concepts of mathematics which move ahead year after year. For the willing students with ability in mathematics, Central offers algebra in accelerated courses along with geometry, trigonometry, math analysis, and calculus. For the students who are interested in just enough mathematics to help them in business and home life after schooling, there is a general math course that is preferred.
