In 1965, more than ever before, jobs for the un- skilled Worker are extremely scarce, so higher educational standards are incor- porated into the schools of today. This year 'at Central, courses in Advanced Chemistry, Latin IV, and French IV Were offered for the first time. The addition of these courses gives strength to the realization that today's college-bound students are attaining higher levels of learning in high school than ever before. For the student who does not plan to attend college, an expanded vocational program is offered at Hillyard's. The Junior Achievement program, which offers training in the business world, is more popular this year than ever before. Also this year, almost half of the student body participated in Central's music program, either in achoir or in the band. Art also took on new importance with several students Winning honors in various contests. r I Today, schools are realizing the need for training the student for working in a field in which he will be able to succeed, either through higher education or through voca- tional training. Today's high school graduate is better prepared to meet the challenges of the complex age in which We live than ever before, because he has had the opportunity to develop toward these goals in an advanced high school.
