He works continually to coordinate the activities of Central, both instructional and extra-curricular. In addition, he must maintain a constant search for new methods, policies, and ideas which will improve Central and serve her students better. He has played a major part in helping us adjust to our new limited activity program this year. ln spite of his many duties, Mr. Markley al- ways has a smile and a friendly word for every- one. Students and teachers who need his help find him pleasant, efficient, and eager to aid them in any way he can,

SUPERINTENDENT BOARD OF EDUCATION These seven prominent citizens help to lighten Mr. Blackwell's responsibilities. They continually search for new ways to increase the efficiency of the school system and improve the institutions of learning in our community. As supervisor of the entire St. Joseph public school system, Mr. George Blackwell shoulders an immeasurable amount of responsibility. With the help of the Board of Education, he determines policies, regulates personnel, and coordinates activities ofthe St. Joseph schools. Mr. Blackwell has been in the school system since 1931, when he became a teacher at Central. After four years he was made Vice-Principal, and three years later he became Principal of Roose- velt High School. From there he advanced to the position of business manager for the school sys- tem and, subsequently, to his present position. With such a complete knowledge of the St. Joseph schools, Mr. Blackwell is well-qualified to lead our schools effectively. tm, v on was Page 4 Standing: George Blackwell, Dwight Dannen, R. V.
