SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Senior class officers are shown during a typical study get-together. Janice Yost, treasurer, and Mary Bloom, vice-president are taking one last look at their English literature books before class. Bob Stuber, president, studies chemistry while Judy Sevey, secretary, brushes up on Amer- ican government. . STUDENTS UF '57 Just as bricks and mortar form the firm founda- tion of a building, education provides the sound basis for a person's life. Throughout its four years at Central, the class of '57 has constructed this foundation and edified it. Laying of the basis for this foundation was done during the freshman year. Many varied courses were taken, new friendships were devel- oped, and initiative was encouraged. Its first accomplishment was the presentation of the fresh- man assembly. The Sophomore year was spent in strengthen- ing the foundation and building the framework. As sophomores, more participation in extra-cur- ricular activities and various school organizations was shown. Just as the framework is an essential part of a building, Central was making itself an essential part of the life of the class of '57. Construction of the walls and planning of the interior were formulated in the junior year. Con- cession stands were sponsored in order to earn money for the Junior-Senior Prom, Drifting and Dreaming. The success of the prom predicted the leadership ability which the class of '57 has shown this year. Page Final stages of the construction were fully real- ized during the Senior year. An outstanding high- light of the year was the Senior Variety Show, Let's Dance. As a result of the overwhelming success of this production, the Senior class was able to purchase a gift for the school. Throughout the entire period of construction, the class of '57 has been outstanding in athletics, art, music, drama, R. O. T. C., student govern- ment, and other phases of Central life. As time for commencement draws near, so does the completion of this phase of the building. Thus, the basic structure, supported by the firm foundation, has been completed. When condi- tions demand, rooms may be added or repair work done to the building in years to come. Though the Seniors of '57 will continue to broaden their education, the firm foundation acquired at Central will remain with them always. A final farewell is bid to Central High School and its faculty by the Seniors of 1957. They are able to look back through their four years at Central with the knowledge that they have upheld Central's fine traditions. 19

TOP RANKING SENIOR These seniors have reached the height of suc- cess in accomplishing the basic purpose of the schoolmscholarship. This honor is based on scho- lastic ability. But these students have proved very active in other activities as well, for five of them became members of the National Honor Society in their junior year. This, added with other activities such as sports and art, has shown that brains coupled with versatility promotes suc- cess in school. Page 18
