. . . THE CENTRAL OFFICE Passes and absentee slips! Both are familiar around the Central office. Mrs. Ilene Simmons and Mrs. Camille Walton, who handle the book- work, records, and school correspondence, need the help of four or five students each period. The duties of these students include the making of the absentee lists, the distributing of passes, guarding the office doors, and any typing or mimeographing needed. Their jobs are important to the functioning of Central. Mrs. Camille Walton Mrs. Ilene Simmons . . . . . . the Dean of Girls Mrs. Dorothy Graham . . . the Vice-Principal Mr. George Markley is one psychology teacher who needs to use psychology. Since the begin- ning of the second semester this year Mr. Mark- ley has suffered a split personality-being vice- principal in the morning and principal in the afternoon. This situation exists because of Mr. Markley's promotion as principal of Central. This promotion will be Wholly in effect next year. Until then, our Vice-principal will continue doing the wonderful job of being psychology teacher, vice-principal, and principal which has won him the respect and friendship of all stu- dents. Supervising more than six hundred teen-age girls is no easy task, as Mrs. Dorothy Graham will quickly attest. For Central's Dean of Girls, besides teaching speech and sponsoring Student Council, is responsible for the well-being of each girl at Central. Girls regard Mrs. Graham as a close friend rather than as an administrator, for she takes a personal interest in each girl. This interest is supplemented by an understanding, sympathetic attitude plus a grand sense of hu- mor. Mr. George Markley Page 8
