OOO l l N V Y Mr. George Blackwell . . . THE BOARD THE SUPERINTENDENT Being well acquainted with the schools of the city is a handy quality for the Superintendent of Schools to possess, and Mr. Blackwell possesses it. After teaching social studies and serving as assistant coach at Central for four years, he be- came Central's Vice-Principal. After being at this job for three years, he became Principal at Roose- velt Junior High. Then, he went to the school board offices, advanced to business manager and, finally, to his present position. Standing: David W. Hopkins, Mrs. John Wyeth, George L. Blackwell, E. R. Garvey. Seated. W. The School Board does a major part in helping Mr. Blackwell to carry out his duties. It is through the efforts of these people that Central Fairleigh Enright, Dwight Dannen, Mrs. Paul Knepper. students, as well as other students throughout the city, are able to attend such fine schools. . . . THE PRINCIPAL J'-ff K Mr. Gibbins at Work. The fact that Central High School is one of the finest schools in this part of the country can be attributed to many factors, among which are the faculty, the students themselves, and the tra- ditions which they strive to maintain. The chief factor, however, is that Central has had the good fortune of being headed by fine principals, who have set themselves permanently into the memories and traditions of our school. Mr. Gib- bins, who is spending his last year at Central, will also be remembered in the same manner. For those who are attending Central this year, Mr. Gibbins will be remembered as a person as Well as an administrator. Those who will enter Central later will not remember him as such, but they will all be affected by those traditions which Mr. Gibbins has helped to establish. Central High School is not merely a building, a staff of teachers, or a body of students. To think of Central is to include her history and traditions, her standards and ideals, and her goals and achievements along with all those people who ha.ve ever called themselves Centralites. Each person who dwells within her walls adds to Central something of himself. Each person Page 7 a W--w-M-...,, '- '-'--0... Marion E. Gibbins who leaves, takes from her some small part which remains forever his own. Those who graduate this year can feel justly proud of the additions they have made. May it ever be thus and may that part which each takes with him bring true happiness as the years unfold. M. E. GIBBINS
