Monday, Sept. 8, 1941 An important day - stu- dents are planning their work for the year. MISS CECELIA FREEDMAN Miss Cecilia Freedman, who works in the office. has charge of all the student records, transcripts, and grades. She also supervises the registra- tion procedure at the begin- ning of each semester. The students who assist in the of- fice are under her guidance. She carries out her duties in an efficient and forceful man- ner exhibiting in her official capacity the same sincerity a11d tactfulness which char- acterize her personal relation- ships. MISS BETTY SCHMIDT Few people realize to what extent the smooth functioning of the school program is de- pendent upon the efficiency of its office secretaries. Miss Betty Schmidt takes care of the bookkeeping details, notices. time reports, and many other important duties. She is very cheerful and courteous. and all who come in contact with her enjoy her because of these qualities. M ISS BETTY HAYWARD Later, on March 2, Miss Schmidt left for Washington, D. C. Miss Betty Hayward is now taking her place. She graduated from Central last year and went to Platt-Gard before coming back to Central to work in the office. Nine

Variety is the spice of life, so the saying goes. I think Central must operate by that standard. I should like to take every kind of English that they offer. lf a student were planning to go into the business world after graduation a class of Business Speech which expresses Ten correct English in speaking and writing is offered. Plain old grammar is taught in the first years of the students high school life to develop his ability to Write and speak the English language correctly. There is even a reading class for those who need to acquire greater skill in reading. If a student is interested in creative Writing he may enroll in that special class or Work on any of the student publica- tions: the Central Outlook: the yearbook,
