Why is the Public Service Company building in our yearbook? A few years back, their building was our school, Tulsa Central High. That is where our Pride, Tradition, Spirit, Love, and our Beat began. No matter where, old Central CPublic Service Companyj or here at Central High School at 33rd and West Edison, Central students still show their Pride, Love, Loyalty, and Spirit. As years progress, Central students will continue to come here each day to express their lo ve, dedication, and loyalty to their school and, of course, to get their education. The Beat Goes On

Tradition. More than a concept One of the oldest traditions at Central High School is the Friendship Chain. An anchor was purchased by the class of l902. Since l928, every senior class has added a link to the chain. After the class of i982 adds their link, there will be 54 links to the chain. The Appeal to the Great Spirit has become known as a symbol of pride for Central students. The statue itself is a gift from the class of l923. The marble base is from the class of l953. The plaque on the front of the base is a donation from the class of l966. The original statue stands in front of the, Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Senior rings are ordered each year by the junior class. Unlike other schools, Central has maintained the same basic ring design for 28 years. The only change has been substituting a picture of the old building with a picture of a brave. Central owns a copyright on the ring design. As years go on, students need something to hehv capture and hold on to their memories, therefore, each year the Tom Tom is published . . . and the beat goes on . . .
