Preceding his appointment to Central as principal, he was the first principal of Mc! Lain and founded many of the traditions that still exist there. His achievements at Central included the establishment of a reading laboraory and parking accommo- dations for faculty members. Mr. McCafferty's incessant determination to help the young in pursuit of education was exemplified by his work on the Board of Trustees of the Civitan lnternational Scholarship Committee which raised almost SlUU,OOU to aid college seniors. For his outstanding work in Civitans, he was awarded Civitan lnternational's Honor Key, granted to fewer than five men a year. ln view of the enrichment undergone at Central due to the endeavors of our Big Chief, the i969-70 Tom Tom Staff has dedi- cated this yearboolc to him.
