The School Board was made up ot seven able persons elected tor three-year terms. Their princi- pal duties tell into two main categories. First, they adopted rules covering general organization policies, procedures and ma- jor plans, and second, acted directly in general matters not covered by establish- ed rules. Receiving no monetary compen- sation ior their time and effort but much satisfaction, Board members promoted high standards ot instruction for pupils and proposed the necessary bond issues to the voters in their districts.
