Concert Oincf CnsemSfe The Concert Wind Ensemble and the Concert Chorus are the two cultural performing groups at Central High School. These two organizations pre- sented concerts together during the year, and they performed at special school functions such as the dedication of the building and graduation. Selected members of these two organizations are chosen to represent Central High School at the various district and state musical functions. Central was hon- ored to have had nine students accepted for the District All-Regional Concert Band and six students a accepted for the All-Regional Workshop Band. These students were chosen from among all the students in District III through a series of competitive auditions. Central was also honored by having six students chosen for the All-Regional Senior Choir, and five students chosen for the All-Regional Junior Chorus. Charles Hankins and Jeanette Green received singu- lar honors in being chosen to be members of the 1968 All-Virginia Band. To have two students chosen for this band, which is made up of the finest musicians in the State of Virginia, is indeed an honor for any school. The Concert Wind Ensemble (pictured above) and the Concert Chorus (pictured on preceding page) are two very fine performing ensembles in their own rights. Their concerts have provided the very finest in musical entertainment and excellence for the people of Lunenburg County, the students of schools in surrounding areas, and the students at Central High School. Much hard work goes with being a member of one of these organizations, and many long and hard hours go into one of their presentations. Central can justly be proud of these two excellent groups. Mr. Roger K. Maier-Director 117
