s L - Every boy and girl in this country has the RIGHT to attend a public high school, receive the proper instruc- tion, to graduate, and to receive a high school diploma in recognition of this attainment. All the many other benefits you receive during your high school years are a PRIVILEGE . It is a privilege to participate in athletics, clubs, pub- lications, dramatics, and the many other extras offered in this school. We must never lose sight of the difference between a right and a privilege during our high school years. In keeping with your ability, you should take advantage of all your school has to offer you. Work together with your teachers and classmates. The benefits you will receive will far exceed your ex- pectations. W. T. Hatfield Assistant Principal ,am .,.' as To the Pupils of Central High School The struggle for truth and free- dom, as opposed to misconceptions and slavery, has seldom found such mighty opponents arrayed one against the other, each armed with horrible weapons whose power to destroy mankind and his civilization are con- stantly evident. Let us meet the challenge of this awesome threat by dedicating our- selves as never before. Let us sow love, where there is hatredg pardon, where there is injury, faith where there is doubt, joy, where there is sadnessg and knowledge, where there is darkness. Let us dedicate ourselves to the service of God, Country, and Mankind, and thus, to the formation of a brighter and better world. George V. Hasser Qssistant Principal f 66, -g57lZ'M"f"
