Februarv furnished a new frontier of friend-
The new semester brought us about 150
new first term freshmen, and about l00 upper
termers who formerly attended Vashon. Sum-
ner, and Washington Technical High School,
as our part in ending segregation in the St, Louis
high schools. In Central integration has been
an unqualified success, of xx hich exerybody can
be proud. The total enrollment mounted to
l 164 students.
At the beginning of the new term, Centra'
welcomed a new assistant principal, Mr. Wil-
liam T. Vvleld, and fixe new teachers These
vsere 'Vlrs Geneva Kincaide who teaches social
studies Mr Milton lemmons teacher of sci
ence Mrs Dorothy Survant teacher of home
economics Mrs Lena Goodwin also a teaeher
of home economics and Mr Huey Wolfington
teacher of English
On February 14 Vliss Isabel Dolch former
Central teacher and also a graduate of the
school died at the age of sexenty in the Bernard

Nlany momentous milestones made March
XVe must give honorable mention to Richard
Smith, since it was Rich who has brought at-
tenticn to Central with his championship
speeches. Rich has just won three American
Legion Oratorical contests. They are the North
Side Championship, City Championship, and
the Zone Championship. From here he went
to Jefferson City to compete for the State
Championship, He placed third in the contest.
Well they did it Centralites Of course l
mean the swimming team They just came
threugh with the City Championship and
plaeed sixth in the State meet Vve wish to
thank 'Vlr Cliffe and the team for adding
another trophy to our huge collection
Wlaile on the subject of sports we cannot
cxerlook a freshman here at Central His name
is Denald lsddington and he has just vxon
the St louis Cuolden Glove Tournament in the
l 18 l b division Don has also won the Gold
en Clove Tournament in Chicago and on May
24 xx ill leave for Europe
Sax I see we have some girls here at Central
who seem to know vxhat they are talking about
Four of cur students won prizes in the Missouri
Distributive Education Club Convention Mari
lyn Fieschute s manual on soda fountain work
and Arlene Thomass manual on nylon won a
tcp rating of one while Jane Pigg s manual on
cashing and wrapping was so good that the
Judges gave her 1 higher rating of one plus
Also Barbara Bender was elected Vice President
of the State organization Nice going gals
Well Centralites you now have been fully
educated on the happenings at Central during
the month of March l9D5
