At the Alumni Reunion on February 10,
the 97th anniversary of the founding of the
school was celebrated by reviving our cus-
tom of awarding 50th anniversary diplomas
to those who graduated 50 years ago. This
proved to be very popular. About twenty
old grads came to the reunion to receive their
diplomas in person and over thirty others
asked to have them delivered by mail.
Another feature of the reunion was an
exhibit of pictures of Central High classes
and activities fifty years ago. Many of these
pictures were prepared for exhibit at the
W0rld's Fair of 1904, and a few of the most
interesting are reprinted here.
Two members of the Central faculty of
fifty years ago were platform guests. They
were Mr. Walter A. Godbey, mathematics
instructor, and Mr. Louis Kittlaus, Sr., gym
teacher. Another math teacher of fifty years
ago is a resident of the Bernard Nursing
Home, 4385 Maryland Avenue. She is Miss
Annie L. Matthews.
The following members of the class of
June, 1900, received the 50th anniversary
diplomas: Charles Lewis Gallant, Robert
Carter Powell, Charles M. Ryan, Dr. Jacob
