As we look over these records of past achievements we find that each year the Class of 1923 has in some way contrib- uted not only to the glory of her class but also to the honor of Central High. FRESHMAN YEAR When we entered the first year of our High School career most of the class was attending Gridley, some were contributing to the several other High Schools of Erie. Nevertheless, we entered into the spirit of the school and through the medium of sev- eral dances and entertainments made a name for thgclass that was to follow it through all the four years. At the close of our freshman year we heard with glad hearts the news that we would attend Central during the coming sophomore year. SOPHOMORE YEAR. Our Sophomore year brought the numerous members of our class into closer rela- tionship and we began to realize that we were a part of the stirring life of the High School., As the time passed the class -off 1923 became represened not only in athletics, but also in dramatics, journalism and music. 'Several of our members belonged to the swimming team which has established a name for itself all over the United States. During this second year our social life was not neglected as may 'be seen from' the nu- merous parties and entertainments held. JUNIOR YEAR As the third year of our high school life rolled around us, we awakened to the fact that half our time -had passed, so we began to enter more strenuously into the ac- tivities of the school. The illustrious swimming team that won the world's interschol- astic relay at New York was composed 'of three members of the Class of 23. Football was another activity in which the members of the class distinguished themselves. As the third year of our High School life drew to ii close, we realized that there was left to us only one short year in which to distinguish ourselves in the activities. SENIOR YEAR The senior year of every class is always filled with many important events and the Class of 1923 was no exception. That year will always remain a 'memory in the minds of each member of the class as a year of supreme accomplishments in every depart- ment of the high -school life. In athletics, '23 distinguished themselves, especially in f otball holding the highly lauded Academy team to a tie and covering themselves 'th glory. Central was also victor in the interscholastic basketball games. In dra- matics our members also took a leading part. The Senior Class Play, Adam and Eva will remain for a long time in the memory of the seniors as one of the most important events of the year. The class also held several dances and entertainments, including the Senior Banquet. As we look back upon these four years of joys and sorrows, we think of our var- ious accomplishments and each of us strive harder to make the name of Central High School and the Class of 1923 a lasting memory in the minds of everyone. 15
