This award is presented to the top ranking student in each event provided he or she attains a composite rating of 7+.50 or higher on a 5.00 scale. This year Central High captured the top rank in three events at the State Finals of the Iowa High School Forensic League. Three Central students, Martha Idddy, lynn Cawthorne, and Judith Hughes received this Forensic Key. lynn Caw- thorne, Junior, was the only student at this meet who received a 5.00 in Serious Play Reading. She read Jean Anouihl's uThe Iarkn. Martha Idddy, Senior, re- ceived a 5.00 rating to tie with Cresco for a top rank in Television Speaking. Martha presented exposition on Pantomime accompanied by an original pantamhme, The Devil Potion . Judith Hughes, Freshman, tied with West Waterloo, to receive the top rank of 5.00 in Humorous Prose with her reading, The Wizard of Oz . This was a real accomplishment for a Freshman student. This is an outstanding accomplishment in the state speech competition for Cen- tral High School to receive three such top ranks in the all-state meet. One other student, Barbara Ruegnitz, in 1955 received the Forensic Key for Television Speaking.
