Joining with others and establishing the fine safety record in our state, the traffic patrol serves in all weather to control pedestrian and vehicle traffic on our busy East Avenue. Inside the building, stairway re- gulations for between class traffic are supervised by another group who give hourly service. Classtime messages and an- nouncements are carried by another willing group of volunteers up and down the stairs and halls of Central. Row two - Puppe, Schaffer, Eckblad, Delmar Service without awards, letters, banquets, or public notice is service of the highest type. Accounting for the many films and tapes used in all of the classrooms, maintaining health records kept by the school nurse, and assisting in the immunization programs along with vision and hearing surveys are two examples of this type of service. Another is greeting and escorting patrons at school events that requires the courtesy and poise shown by the members of the usher squad.
