The summer of ,87 was filled with good times and good entertainment. One could always find something to do on a hot summer night. Friday nights, Green River Road was the hoppin scene. Hundreds of Ev- ansville teens cruised in jeeps, conver- tibles, motorcycles, and even in family stationwagons. If Friday nights werenit enough to keep a person happy, they could always dance the night away at the Victory on Saturday nights. Every Tri-State high school was represented on Saturday nights when the floor was filled with lots of happy, hoppin, feet. If neither the Vic- The HOT Days . . . and COOL nights of Summer tory nor Green River was what a per- son wanted, there were dozens of oth- er places to go. Movies were abig hit on the sum- mer nights as well. If the heat was too much, one could always escape to the air-conditioned comfort of the theatres. Movies like Innerspace, Summer School, Beverly Hills Cop II, and Dragnet were big hits on any night of the week. They even filmed another Jaws movie just to make us laugh. If we could handle the heat of the night, we could always catch a concert at Mesker Music Theatre. Groups like Night Ranger, The Outfield, The Hooters, and Bryan Adams rocked the West Side with their music. But if we missed these concerts there was al- ways a hot local band playing at The Ross. ' The nights were busy but the summer days of i87 were for relax- ation, swimming, and summer vaca- tions. Some Central students packed up and headed to Europe and Mexico for two weeks, while others packed up and headed for the beaches. Whether they went with their family or friends, there is no doubt that they made the most of their summer. THE SUMMER was full of excitement for the Lady Bears Volleyball team as they traveled to Indianapolis to watch the Pan Am games.
