To Make A Long Story Short A story is, as defined by Websterls, llan account of incidents or eventsf, That is exactly what this year and our high school career has been. From football games to graduation, there was never a dull moment. We tried to make the best out of this year because it was our last as high school students. But there were times that we didnlt think we would make it through high school, or that it would ever end. Of course, it did. And now, as the end is near, we realize that what we thought were long days and nights turned into short years, and that high school has actually been a short story in our lives. We also realize that we have so much to look forward toecollege, jobs, and marriage. Everything in the future is going to be just as exciting as high school. We shouldnlt expect anything less be- cause the class of '88 is great! it, t I . I A :H-Wil JYHQKQIQAM 1854' landfall At, $44 THE SCHOOL sign announces about our history-making foot- ball team. DINING OUT at Pancho 's by the Sea in Canal Mexico are Kim McFadden, Kent Miller, Jason Pd Vin, Michelle Funk, and Kim McMaken. The summer of ,87 was filled with good times and good entertainment. One could always find something to do on a hot summer night. Friday nights, Green River Road was the hoppin scene. Hundreds of Ev- ansville teens cruised in jeeps, conver- tibles, motorcycles, and even in family stationwagons. If Friday nights werenit enough to keep a person happy, they could always dance the night away at the Victory on Saturday nights. Every Tri-State high school was represented on Saturday nights when the floor was filled with lots of happy, hoppin, feet. If neither the Vic- The HOT Days . . . and COOL nights of Summer tory nor Green River was what a per- son wanted, there were dozens of oth- er places to go. Movies were abig hit on the sum- mer nights as well. If the heat was too much, one could always escape to the air-conditioned comfort of the theatres. Movies like Innerspace, Summer School, Beverly Hills Cop II, and Dragnet were big hits on any night of the week. They even filmed another Jaws movie just to make us laugh. If we could handle the heat of the night, we could always catch a concert at Mesker Music Theatre. Groups like Night Ranger, The Outfield, The Hooters, and Bryan Adams rocked the West Side with their music. But if we missed these concerts there was al- ways a hot local band playing at The Ross. ' The nights were busy but the summer days of i87 were for relax- ation, swimming, and summer vaca- tions. Some Central students packed up and headed to Europe and Mexico for two weeks, while others packed up and headed for the beaches. Whether they went with their family or friends, there is no doubt that they made the most of their summer. New ad- ditions this year include Bear Pause, which tells of female athletes and their accomplish- ments here at Central, and the TrirState. Also new this year are Co-Editors Melissa Mat- thews and Tracy Bonenberger. Their ideas enlightened and en riched the layout of the newspa- per. The yearbook is also part of the journalism staff. Editors Pam Boyd and Amy Christmas brought with them their ideas HTo Make a Long Story Short. It started at journalism camp where Pam Boyd won a $300 Scholarship. There were a lot of changes in different sections like Mini-Mag and the 16 color pages in the front of the book. The organization section as you can see, has listings of clubs in the upper left hand corner. Ads were sold by devoted journalism students led by Ann Niemeier. This group sold more ads than needed for the year- book. We congratulate them. A new printer was added to the fine line of type setting equip- ment. But we know that high school is something we can look back on with fond memories, and that there are many more exciting chapters to come. When we look back on our high school years we will remember that the good times out-weighed the bad in the high school chapter of our lives, and well realize that we made the long story of high school into a short story full of wonderful times. TRUE WE SHALL EVER BE. FIRM AND STRONG, UNITED ARE WE . . United together. A scene Bear fans are proud of. It was a year we will ALWA Y5 be proud of! DONiT ASK, IT'S A LONG STORY!
