I am, happy to extend to you cordial greetings on the occasion of your graduation from high school. This is an important event in your lives, one that you have planned and worked for during many years. Likewise, it is an event to be refrnenibercd with pride. In subsequent years you will follow the pattern set by former classes and celebrate theanniversary of your graduation. Time will accentuate rather than diminish the meni- ories of school which even now seem so vivid and so dear. You have tho good fortune of starting a new phase of life in a time of great challenge and opportunity. Developments are occurring in rapid succession especially in the fields of science and mathematics. No one can speculate concerning the full implications of jet power and the space age. I recommend that you continue to chart the course of your lives with great care and with a full realization of the increased clenzands of the ageg in which you live. faculty Retiring Claude V. Robinson, who is retir- ing' this year, was born at Heilman, Indiana in Warrick County. He at- tended Heilman grade school and graduated from Selvin High School. After graduation, Mr. Robinson went. to Central Normal College for three years and then entered Iivansvillc College for his A.B. de-4 gree. He was in the first graduating class in 1922. From there he went to I.Il. to receive the M..-X. degree. Mr. Robinson came to Central in September of 1926, teaching math and managing' the athletic depart- ment. He became head of the math department in 19363 at this time he resigned as athletic manager, and latcr was assistant principal from 19259 to 121-15. Leaving: Central, Mr. Robinson became principal of Me- chanic Arts from 1945 to 1956, the year he returned to Central. Other teaching' experiences of Mr. Robin- son's include Selvin High School, New Winchester, Elberfeld, and Reitz High School. He is a member of the N.E.A., the Optimist Club, and Phi Delta Kappa. Alter retiring, Mr. Robin- son plans to sell securities part Page 2 time and spend a great deal of his time traveling. He has visited many places in the U.S. and Canada. This fall he plans to see the VVorld Series. W'hile athletic manager at Central tfor ten yearsj he developed many friends over the state. I shall leave Central with fond memories of the fine faculty and student body, Mr. Robinson said.
