NOT ALL OF IT IS WORK By RUTH WACK and MAY OHLROGGE Each year as more Verdant Freshmen join the ranks of other students in search of education, they are pleasantly perplexed to discover the numerous vocational trainings offered in many fields at Central. Industrial, business or college minded, or perhaps in- terested in home making, they may form the cast for the mold of their desired later life here at Central, We've come a long Way since the time of our forefathers, when an education meant only toiling long hours in a haphazard fashion, to learn the fundamentals of Pteadin', 'Ritin' and 'Rithmetic . Central offers training in nine departments, namely: English, commercial, mathematics, foreign language, music, vocational, social studies, science and home economics. The school today has an enrollment of l,924 with 71 on the faculty. ln time these students will graduate, to take their place among the great throng seeking higher standards of living and more will take their place in Central. But all work and no play makes lack a dull boy. Central proves that she wants no part of dullness by offering many extra curricular activities for her almost two thousand lacks to participate in. Be- sides the club meetings on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Guidance Day on Wednesday, a new assembly plan has been in effect for the past year, allowing all of Central's students to attend assemblies, freshmen and sophomores on Thursdays, and the upperclassmen on Fridays. Too, lately instituted in Central is the Activities Fee Plan, enabling more students to attend the social activities such as the Senior Play, Big Broadcast, Annual Boatride, Iunior Play, and there are many more, in addition to locker fees and Centralian subscription. The students cooperating with this plan are indeed fortunate to attend such a progressive school as Central has proved herself. Another service which Central offers to the student body is the annual acknowledgment of College Week. All possible is done to accentuate in the minds of the students, the importance of a college education. So We find mixed in with Central's vocational training many moments of fun and relaxation. It's not all work! School days are the best days after all. City Champion Debaters
