Smmr 611155 Hzsivry BURLINGTON On September 5 1950 twenty one starry eyed Freshmen entered the halls of Bur lrngton High School to start the long climb to the title of Seniors At the first class meeting the followlng officers were elected John Sutherland Presrdent Shirley Sunderlage Vice President and Larry Meyers Secretary Treasurer John Sutherland Harold Beebe and Shirley Sunderlage were elected to the Student Coun c1l Mr Connelly was our class advisor As the six weeks progressed we lost Bernard Herrmann and about the second six weeks we gained Edward Konecny from Cicero During the year we had two parties The first was the traditional rnrtratron party given for us by the Seniors Shirley Sunderlage and Glenn Carlson were voted the two best dressed Freshmen The second one was an all school party given instead of the usual Valentine party The following boys were out for sports this year Larry Meyers Lowell Kmef John Sutherland Harold Beebe Glenn Carlson Charles Clark John Oehlerkrng D1ckRe1ser and Frank Nelson Shirley Sunderlage was a cheerleader I1'l1S year PLATO While this was gorng on in Burlington the Plato Freshmen were havrng Just as hard a time Their year also started on September 5 1950 dent Lois Henning Vice Prestdent and Virginia Wrlke Secretary Treasurer Sandy Anderson and Leroy Bahr were Student Council members this year The class chose Mrs Miller formerly Miss Anthony as the1r class advisor On October 19 the class sponsored an all school hayrrde party and on December 22 some of the class were in a Christmas play The following boys were out for sports Don Kusk Don Hrnkle Jim Merritt Ralph Anderson Leroy Bahr Deforest Jayne and Clarence Rossler Two Freshmen were cheerleaders this year they were Lors Henning and Sandy Anderson When we returned 1n the fall of 51 the two schools had consolidated lnto one school known as Central High School At the first class meeting we elected the following class offrcers Shirley Sunderlage President Shirley Schumacher Vice President and Shlrley Volkenrng Secretary Treas urer Vrrgrnra Lawrence and Shirley Sunderlage were our Student Council members and Mr Kuchera was our class advisor This year as the largest class rn school we lost and gained quite a few classmates The new students were Betty Trumblee Helen Boor Linda Olson Madeline Stiles and Leroy Hoeft The students who left were Frank Nelson, Clarence Rossler and Kenneth Schreck The following officers were elected at Plato this year: Shirley Schumacher, Presi-

Class I-ltstory contrnued Our act1v1t1es thts year rncluded the May Dance at Burlrngton a skatrng party at Elgrn and a bowhng party on Apnl 21 The followrng boys were out for basketball thrs year Larry Meyers Lowell Kntef Harold Beebe Glenn Carlson Don Kusk John Sutherland Charles Clark Ralph Ander son Jrm Merrttt Bob Jenny Eddte Murrhead and Dtck Retser Thrs year three Sophomore grrls were the cheerleaders for the Frosh Soph team they were Vxrgmra Lawrence Lots Henmng and Shrrley Sunderlage At our frrst class meettng rn the fall of 52 we elected the followmg offrcers Vtrgrnra Lawrence Presrdent Shrrley Schumacher Vrce Prestdent and John Sutherland Secretary Treasurer Vrrgrnra Lawrence and Shrrley Sunderlage were our Student Councrl members and Mr Ganshrrt and Mrss Hawkrns were our class advtsors We had qutte a few 3CIlV1I1CS thrs year The frrst one was the class play Grrl Shy whrch was presented on November 7 wrth the help of Mrss Hawkrns and Mr Ganshrrt as drrectors We also had another skatmg party thrs year at Elgrn Just before Chrrstmas we recerved our class rrngs There were qurte a few boys out for sports thts year they were as follows Larry Meyers John Sutherland Lowell Knerf Charles Clark Harold Beebe Glenn Carlson Bob Jenny Don Kusk Don Hrnkle Leonard Brammer and Jrm Merrrtt The Junrors entertarned the Semors at the Prom on May 15 at the Hotel Baker rn St Charles SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS When we came back to school tn the fall of 53 we had the trtle of Senrors Thrs year we elected Bob Jenny as Presrdent Char les Clark as Vtce Presrdent and Jtm Merrrtt as Secretary Treasurer Our Student Counctl members were Vrrgtma Lawrence Bob Jenny and Leroy Bahr Bob Jenny was also elected as Prestdent of Student Councrl Our HCIIVIIICS thrs year were very busy Thrs year at the Homecomrng football game Charles Clark and Nancy Herrmann were elected as Krug and Queen In the fall our prctures were taken for the yearbook On November 13 1953 the class play was presented The name of tt was Lavender and Old Lace and ll WHS brg success Wrth the Freshman rnttlatton a skaung party and a Movre Dance on February 26 1954 we were kept busy On February 13 the upperclassmen gave a fare well party for Mrs Wtnters who left for Calrfornra Nancy Herrmann recerved the D A R award for Crttzenshrp Servrce and Scholarshtp There were stxteen boys out for sports thts year The Jumor Semor Prom was held on May 21 and after this thrngs went pretty fast wtth the Baccalaureate on May 23 and Commencement on May 27 Left to rrght Bob Jenny, Chuck Clark and Jtm Merntt 11 ' ' 11 , 1 0 . . : , .
