Here I am washing dishes trying to read the paper and not benng able to get a thing done As President of the United States I dont think I have to do this but my wnfe has gone to a bridge club and left me alone Well Ill read the paper and see what has happened I see that some of the boys nn the old school band have nonned the Cnty Band Milford Gunnells Johnny Hugley and Carlton Smith are the backbone of the new and splendid band The cnty has some new policemen Look at the new chief J VV Gresham and hns new men Ralph Franklin James Veasey and James Cobb' They are looking for the men who robbed the Phenix Girard Bank and made a get away with only SSI and a few cents The gossip cblumn June Rowland and Mildred Davns editors They worked nn the school offnce and now they wrnte gossip They say Bettye Reese gave a party where Agnes Zagar Jean Schofield and Emma Jean Pittman won all of the prizes Parties are the cause of my having to wash the dishes The stork vnsnted the homes of Jack Miller and Billy Nnckols who are reported donng nicely I guess they mean the children The editors Ralph Glass and George Hammer still make errors as they did nn the Keyhole at school The great tenor Jack Knnny and hns company of singers composed of Leon Poyner bass Johnny Jerknns baritone and Rufus Hall tenor wnll perform at the noted opera owned and operated by Isaac Johnson and H C Harden Joyce Bankston wnll be the acccmpannst Joe Dudley ns the dnrector of thns great and wonderful show Neal Smnth ns now head of the WRBL broadcasting company Smnth studied radio assnsted by Johnnne Lun ford who was one of hns classmates They are now installing a large studio nn Phenix Cnty Wnllnam Barnes and Charles Blalock are both candidates for State Senator Mr Barnes has been mayor of Phennx Cnty and Mr Blalock was the city recorder before their campaigns began I hope they make good and are always honest A special wrnte up about a new cafe Kate Blalock and Ruth Sharpe have opened the Cafe DeLuxe at the corner of Broad and Fnfth Streets The cafe wnll serve all sea foods and have as a specialty hot dogs l guess that my wnfe and I wnll go down to eat there some tnmes Grimes Flanagan is taking over hns fathers danry and ns going to have all of hns cattle shnpped an for the danry Robert Davns health inspector for Phenix Cnty ns giving hns approval of thns plan for securnng a better mnlk supply The cows were ransed nn New Jersey by the Byrd and Harden farms These farms are owned by Wnllnam Byrd and Jack Harden Louise Sallas the noted lnbrarnan has lust added fnve new books to her modern lnbrary Mnss Sallas ns known for her delncate chance of books and has some of the world s most famous ones She has all of Shakespeare s works as well as those of mod ern authors She nnvntes the publnc to vnsnt her and dn cuss the noted books wnth her Robert Gunter has taken over hns fathers business and wnll carry on as usual Johnnne Pharrns and Warren Wyatt wnll assist hnm nn the work Dorothy Ann Dudley is hns typnst . , , , ,, . , . 4 . .
