Good products require good materials In September, thirteen hundred strange but shining faces suddenly appeared in Central's halls. As sopho- more students eagerly began their first semester, teachers caught a glimpse of the materials they were to work with for the next three years in hopes of developing well- rounded seniors. It soon became apparent that the sophomore group was intelligent, one which Central could truly be proud of! Entering into the activities of their new alma mater, vim, vigor and vitality became a class trademark. Despite their large number, the tenth graders seemed closely bound together, when in complete unity and har- mony, they elected capable class officers and selected group representatives to comprise the Sophomore Board of Directors, their governing body. Because they realized that it was not too early to be- gin planning for the senior year, the first year students sponsored various money-raising campaigns such as bake sales. Cooperation and well-though-out ideas made every venture a huge success! Weeks flew by and sophomores became aware of a strong feeling of loyalty whenever the name of Flint Central was mentioned. Forgotten were Junior high rivalries, and the young adults became the latest addi- tions to a long line of true Centralitesl Traditions of a respectable old high school made the students resolve to carry on a proud heritage. As the year drew to a close, and the accomplishments of the tenth graders were considered, no one questioned their abilities. The sophomore class proved that they were of a sturdy material which would eventually pro- duce a successful finished product for Central High School!
