Class History Upon entering Central, we as little papooses gazed in awe at the long halls and the big seniors. However, we soon got into the swing of things by electing our officers: Roger Ander- son, president, Julie Morris, vice presidentg Sally Simmons, secretary, and Shirley Hower- ton, treasurer. Our first activity was the Sophomore Drama Festival. Later in the year we sponsored a disc- jockey dance where we had an opportunity to become better acquainted with fellow Central- ites. By our junior year we had grown from strug- gling papooses into Indian braves. Our officers were Dianne Maynard, president, Sophie Sham- bes, vice president, Laura Heinrich, secretary, and Karen Johnson, treasurer. This year our activities started with a series of bake sales. Next was the Junior-Senior Talent Show. Al- though we didn't win, we had a great show and a grand time producing it. Shortly afterwards, the Junior Play Little Women was presented in the girls' gym in arena style. The Starlighters provided the music for the Junior Prom. Rose arbors helped create the romantic setting sug- gested by the theme, ln the Mood. Entering our final year at Central, we heap big chiefs immediately started our whirlwind of senior activities. We elected Bill Durham, president, Dianne Maynard, vice president, Jo- anne Wheeler, secretaryg and Ted Hamady, treasurer. Our money making projects started in preparation for our prom. We held bake sales, and carameled apple sales. We also sold pom poms for the Thanksgiving Game, and what a game it was! For the first time since we entered Central our dream came true-the Turkey Day game was ours. Nearing our last semester, we really began a round of activities. We purchased senior an- nouncements, name cards, and got measured for our caps and gowns. Fish, seaweed and nets enhanced the beauty of Ebb Tide, the theme of the senior couple dance. Again this year the two hour U.S. his- tory, government, and contemporary problems class sponsored a Model U. N. Assembly. This greatly increased our knowledge of internation- al problems. The same week the fourth annual Junior-Senior Talent Show was held. The Sen- iors won both nights by unanimous decision, our college theme had proved to be a terrific success. The crowds are still talking about our fabulous basketball season. After a thrilling regular season Central's impressive team went all the way to the state Semi-finals. The sen- ior play, Cheaper by the Dozen, which pro- vided a million laughs and a few tears, was presented early in May. Next came the Pow Wow in which the Senior Class sponsored an- other carameled-apple sale. Finally the long awaited, final week of senior activities arrived. First came the Honors As- sembly, followed by the Senior Dinner Dance where the nationally famous Pee Wee Hunt provided the music which set the mood for our prom. Then we concluded our final activities: Baccalaureate: Senior Sing, Senior Picnic: and, finally, commencement. After three Years all was over! Finished! The Heap Big lniuns were finally on their way to their happy hunting grounds! nine
