STUDENT COUNCIL STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS--Douglas Mintline, vice president: Mary Danger, recording secretary: lean Chisholn president: Shirley Ienson. corresponding secretary. Breaking all precedence in Central's history, Iean Chisholm was the first girl ever to be elected president of the Student Union. The other officers selected were: Douglas Mintline, vice-president: Shirley Iensen, corresponding secretary: and Mary Ranger, recording secretary. Members of the council from the three classes aided the officers in fulfilling various projects. The advisor for the council was Miss Grace Pinel. In addition to maintaining its regular business and its permanent com- mittees, the council took on other duties. A special committee was appointed to make plans for increasing the Student Union membership next year. In doing its part for national defense the council put on an extensive paper drive in which the goal was set for 35,000 pounds. Tubes of all kinds were also collected. The money received from these papers and tubes was used to purchase air-raid equipment and war savings bonds. These bonds will be a reserve fund that will be used to build new tennis courts after the war. Records were also bought for the noon-hour dancing in the girls' gym.
