r, C. V. COURTER HEN you Find a school set in spacious, well-kept, beautifully landscaped grounds, with playgrounds, athletic fields, graveled drives and inviting walks, whose studied architecture blends with its surroundings, and that is clean, cheerful, and challenging within: when that school has a student body that is motivated by worthwhile purposes, that is guided hy Fine ideals, that is in the grip of steady loyalty, and that is tired with high enthusiasms: when the school has a faculty that is sympathetic, understanding and helpful in its contacts with youth, that places the needs of youth above all else, and that finds its work with developing a joy and not a task,-there is a great school. lt is from such a background that splendid achievements spring. Such a school sheds its light upon an entire community. KIZWJZ ,:.3s,sf - - M .- Q-N - T 2 , A X , Vg N ,fs e -I 1-1 , . -5 ' . .. H ' ' -3' 'n ' -is as . Q is , b, 1 dx. 1 F... . fam 1 ,. ,. j. E. WELLWOOD IGHT and fire are ancient symbols for wisdom and enthusiasm. The 1930 Prospectus could not have chosen a more fitting theme to represent the Spirit of Central. Wisdom without enthusiasm is ineffectual. Enthusiasm without wis- dom is dangerous. The Spirit of Central strives to be a Hne combination of the two. Through the thirty-two years of its publication the Prospectus has had no small part in keeping our torch burning brightly and has each year helped to hand it on to succeeding generations of students. lt is with genuine pleasure that I see this book take its place in the long line of its predecessors. t iw r.
