They are devoting their time to hobbies: the arts, music, drama, sports, and the dance, for they have faith in the future and it is right that they should. When these tragic things are ended, can't you imagine the need for music and laughter? Those of us who keep on having hobbies will be prepared to do much toward bringing back peace and happiness. Just by keeping our minds occupied with the sensible, sane, and sometimes even the frivolous, will help us to keep our balance. Activities, mental and physical, are a necessary part of any school program. To dance, to sing, and to take an active part in the social side of school life, are all signs of healthy and normal students. Who can deny the exhilaration of a tennis match, or the glow of friendliness that comes from just being a football fan? We are grateful to our school for the great variety of extra-curricular activi- ties afforded us. We have many clubs and sports directed by capable and inter- ested advisers. A glimpse through the pages of our book will reveal to you Cen- tral's attempt to enrich our lives by sponsoring hobby interests through clubs. Hobbies are a sign of people interested in the abundance of life. What is your hobby? Isabelle Tefank WE WISH TO THANK FACULTY PHRASES MISS KLEIN And what do you want to see Mr. Ralston about? MR. Section 2: To Mr. Ralston, we do bequeath our deepest appreciation for making our years at Central memorable ones Section To our Senior Advisers, Miss Potas and Mr. Haeseler, we leave our generous thanks for their splendid cooperation and guidance toward making our gradua- tion an unblemished success Section 4: To Mr. Schleicher, we leave a brand new rocking chair, so that there won't be any more danger of his slipping during class orations. Section 5: To Mrs. Heller, we bestow an extra pair of shoulders on which prospective stu- dents may find consolation. ARTICLE II Section To the Senior B's, we bequeath the difficult task of reconciling the school to our departure. Section 2: To the Juniors, we give a pair of protective goggles as a shield against that ter- rific water pressure at the Central Soda Fountain. Section 3: To the Sophomores, poor things, we leave long homework assignments, especial- ly on weekends. (Aren't we mean?) Section 4: To the Freshmen, we leave the following advice: 1. Don't come to school early; you might get lonesome. 2. Don't make up your homework after an absence; it doesn't pay to be too different. 3. Don't run in the halls; you'll get there any way. ARTICLE III Section 1: To the students of History, we leave the job of learning about the Democratic principles in a Republic, analyzing the Constitution and Declaration of Indepen- dence, and applying all this to Problems of Today. Section 2: То the students of Biology, we leave half a frog each; one frog's leg is enough for anybody's lunch. Section 3: To the students of Chemistry, we leave lonization, Valence, and Qualitative Analysis; also, a little explosion now and then to keep things alive. In witness, whereof, we leave at your mercy, the following list of names. Duly signed, sealed, and presented, this momentous day in January 1941, we rightfully declare this, our Class Will. Reilly Central's Graduating Athletes With the graduation of the Class of January 1941, our Alma Mater will lose many of her outstanding athletes. Departing from the football team will be such stalwarts as Gus Armenti, an all-city man; Pete Racioppi, Joe Matera, George Washington, Sam Anello, Ken Lueddeke, Jack Villee, and Al Shields On the basketball front, the only star receiving a diploma will be the formidable Nick Agoglia At the advent of the baseball season, such reliables as John Daubert, all-state first baseman; Len Ruscito, Walt Krill, Larry Pollare, and Abe Savino will be missing. The cross-country team will lose its diminutive captain and city champ, Jack Skidmore, along with Marc Miller and Bill White. At the opening of the swimming season, Alex Babola, Tom Osborne, and Bernard Donnerstag will not answer the gun because of graduation These athletes now bid adieu to Central with the thought that they were only too glad to perform under Central's banners and with the hope that the boys to come will raise her name to even greater heights in scholastic sport circles. IHE FUTURE AS REVEALED TO ELEANOR HERGERT Round and round she goes, the crystal ball. What does the future hold for us all? Fell us, Oh ball, that knows so much, But please don't get this author in “Dutch.” VICTORIA ARMINIO, FLORA BANDA and EVELYN LANG are all attached. CATHERINE BUXTON, ANGIE COSIMANO, and MARIE DEL TUFO all have cars: but if they meet John Law — Conductor of the band of the future will be PETRINA SPINOSO. The band which is us whimsical and grotesque as modern art, will feature high flute by MOLLIE MINCARELLI; JENNY D AGC ISTINO on the pianoforte and IRENE KASSAY and FRANCES MAGNANTI distributing the sheet music. JOSEPHINE STRANO will be in the Met. MODESTA ZAMARELLI and ADELAIDE NEST are soapbox barkers They re yelling for longer clbows on elbow macaroni MARY FERRUGGIA, BERTHA SCHMUCKLER and DORA ROSELLI are trving to get steak with other bone letters than the T , while DRUCILLA TOWNES, ROSE MAGNASCO, and VIRGINIA LIPARI are still wondering how to look up a word in Webster's Dictionary when they can't spell it Top flight girls; JANIE MULLOCK, OLGA SHUMANOW' and CONNIE COLASANTI better not fall down the steps.
