At the beginning of the year, these pages stood blank, empty, awaiting some- one to create and compile events, ideas, attitudes, and feelings into what would hopefully become astory of life. The wait was not a very long one, for you came and you were the creators, the “someone” who made things happen. This book, therefore, is yours, molded by the ones who helped compile it with the aid of taped interviews, surveys, and candid opinion, into a story of life. The story is of a group of individuals who, for a year at least, came together as one, a story of an instiution most belovedly referred to as High Point Central High School, your story this year. We have set our goals and planned our directions. The road is rough, in- direct, and filled with ruts. Some of us have been wandering this road for nearly three years, striving for goals that, to most of us, are seemingly unreachable now. But there can be no turning back. We can make it; we must, for if we don’t, there will be no past worth looking back to and this book, a history, will be meaningless. The key to our success lies in our ability to support one another, to extend a helping hand, to be able to communicate and lend a listening ear, to possess and display the joy and comfort of togetherness. And with this togetherness, be it honest and sinc ere, we can move mountains. And, in doing so, together, we shall achieve what future generations will call worthy.
